Which devices and browsers actually work

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

What decides this is not the model, it is the version. Check it this way:

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to General and then About.
3. Look for the line that says "Software Version".

• If the number starts at 16.4 or higher —16.4, 17, 18, 26…— your device works with Safari.
• If the number is lower than 16.4, go to Settings → General → Software Update. If the device cannot reach 16.4, open the site on another updated device.

Can your device get there? Yes, if it is one of these:

• iPhone 8 or later, or iPhone SE 2nd generation or later.
• iPad Air 3 or later.
• iPad mini 5 or later.
• 5th-generation iPad or later.
• Any iPad Pro, any size, any year.
• iPod touch devices cannot reach iOS 16.4.

If the device cannot install iOS/iPadOS 16.4, use another updated device. It is not broken; it simply no longer receives the web capabilities used by the platform.

One thing to watch: on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, installing Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, or Opera changes nothing. They all use the same engine as Safari underneath, so they will look exactly the same. The only thing that changes the outcome is the software version. And opening the link from WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook does not change anything either, for better or worse.

How to update, step by step

Mac

Open the menu (top left) → About This Mac and check the version shown.

• macOS Big Sur 11 or later (Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia…): update to Safari 16.4+, or use Chrome/Edge 111+ or Firefox 128+.
• macOS Catalina 10.15: Safari does not reach the floor. Use Firefox 128+ if Mozilla still offers it for your system, or update macOS.
• macOS Sierra 10.12, High Sierra 10.13, or Mojave 10.14: browsers available there do not reach guaranteed support. Update macOS or use another device.
• OS X El Capitan 10.11 or earlier: no browser you can install today on that system works. But that does not mean your Mac is useless: many Macs still on El Capitan can move up to a newer macOS for free. The safe way to know is to open the App Store or Software Update and see what Apple offers for that specific Mac. If it reaches Catalina 10.15 or later, you can install Firefox 128+; reaching only High Sierra is not enough for this site.

If Apple does not offer macOS Catalina 10.15 or later, you need another updated device. In the meantime, any reasonably recent phone or computer works to get in.

Why we do not link Chrome here: on Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, and El Capitan, the current Chrome installer simply refuses to install and gives a confusing error. And do not download old Chrome versions from third-party sites: they have gone years without security updates and are not a solution.

Android (phones and tablets)

What decides this is the version of your browser, not of Android.

1. Open Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu (top right) → Settings → About Chrome.
2. Look only at the first number (in "138.0.7204.63" that is 138).
3. If it is 111 or higher, the site works on your phone. If it is lower, update it from the Play Store and check again: it almost always fixes itself right there, for free.

Do not worry if your number is not one of the highest: on Android 8 and 9, Chrome froze at 138 for good, and 138 is more than enough.

If your regular browser is Samsung Internet, open this verification in Chrome or Edge 111+ for guaranteed support.

If the site looks fine in Chrome but broken or colorless when you open it from WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook, it is not your phone: those links use a separate system component. Update "Android System WebView" from the Play Store, or open the link in Chrome instead. This happens mostly on Android 10 or newer.

The Android version (Settings → About phone → Android version) only tells you whether your case can be fixed:

• 7.1.1 or later: works through every path. Read the full number, not just the first digit.
• Exactly 7.0 or 7.1.0: the site looks fine in Chrome, but links opened inside WhatsApp or Instagram will give you a connection error. The fix is to open the link in Chrome, not to change phones.
• 6.0 or earlier: there is no fix through updating here. The symptom will be a secure-connection error (not an ugly page), and updating Chrome will not solve it. You will need a different device to get in.

If your phone has no Play Store (recent Huawei devices and some phones without Google services), the same first-number-from-step-3 rule still applies, but you will need to update the browser from your manufacturer's store or install a different browser from there.

Windows (PC and laptop)

What decides this is the version of your browser, not of Windows.

Check it this way (the same screen updates it for you):

• Chrome: ⋮ menu → Help → About Google Chrome. You need 111 or higher.
• Edge: … menu → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge. You need 111 or higher.
• Firefox: ☰ menu → Help → About Firefox. You need 128 or higher.

If you want to know which Windows you have: press Windows + R, type winver, and hit Enter. It works on any version (the Settings → System → About path only exists on Windows 10 and 11).

• Windows 10 or 11: everything works. Current Chrome, Edge, and Firefox install and update themselves. Watch out for one case: if your browser is frozen by a policy at work, or simply never updates, you can be on Windows 11 and still see the broken page. That is why the real test is the browser's own "About" screen.
• Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1: browsers available there do not reach Chrome/Edge 111 or Firefox 128. Update Windows or use another device.
• Windows XP or Windows Vista: here you are out of luck. No installable browser on those systems today reaches what the site needs.

If you already have Chrome or Edge installed on Windows 10 or 11, they update themselves from their own "About" screen: there is no installer to download. On Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, neither Chrome/Edge nor Firefox reaches the floor: update Windows or use another device.
